Our story

We’ve all felt it — wanting to connect, but not knowing how

When I first came to Japan, I struggled to connect with my Japanese peers. At first, it was the language barrier. But even after becoming more comfortable with the language, I was always so nervous to make the first move, unsure how to start and afraid I would not be welcomed.

Why does it matter?

Because these connections are invaluable. Talking with international friends gave me new perspectives, helped me grow, and even helped shape the path I’ve chosen. 

But more importantly, because it's a shared struggle. After talking to so many students, we realized most students — Japanese and international — want to connect. But the process feels unsure and intimidating, making us hesitate and then simply give up. So the conversations don’t start, the friendships don’t form, and the chance to learn from each other quietly slips away.

That’s why we’re building CampusLink 

A free digital platform where International and Japanese students can find impactful connections. Our goal is to make it easy and encouraging for students to not only connect, but also to build lasting friendships and create real value through each exchange.
